What is Geothermal?

ThermaSource is proud to be on the cutting edge of an energy technology that is so beneficial to mankind. Geothermal is “earth’s heat” which is removed from the rock and fluid of the earth’s crust to make energy. There are many dramatic advantages to use geothermal energy over other sources of energy.

For starters geothermal power is relatively non-polluting, it is the most economically feasible "clean" power source and tapping this environmentally safe resource helps to conserve fossil fuels.

In addition the profit potential from geothermal energy is great, which is for a couple of reason. First, geothermal power is generally accessible 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Second, it has a high adaptability to power plants of various sizes and load capacities. Finally, geothermal power has the highest on-line availability of any kind of renewable energy source including wind and solar power. Along with all these benefits geothermal power can also be developed at costs competitive with other energy sources.

For these reasons, more and more countries are electing to explore their geothermal resources. Even though geothermal power has been used for over 100 years, it is has only recently and rapidly expanded in popularity as a means of meeting the energy needs of the world.

The optimum size of a power plant is determined by the availability of geothermal resources in the area.
